Biography
Caroline Nadeau is a versatile singer, arranger, composer, backing vocalist, and teacher who has been active in the music industry for over 25 years. She has graced stages at prestigious events such as the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, the Edmundston Jazz & Blues Festival, and Germany’s Mommenta Festival. Known for her engaging stage presence, she has also collaborated with the Orchestre Symphonique de Longueuil in a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald.
Caroline has released multiple critically acclaimed albums, including Si Fragile and Chansons pour durer toujours, both of which received nominations at the ADISQ gala for Album of the Year – Jazz Interpretation.
Caroline's latest project, Forever Lasting Canadian Songs (2023), revisits 10 emblematic songs popularized by legends like Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen, offering a soulful, groove-filled journey through over 50 years of music. The album received many warm reviews here, as well as internationally.
In addition to her solo career, Caroline is a long-time member of the jazz vocal ensemble Bémol 9, with whom she has recorded six albums: Hiatus, Blanc, Vokaléidoscope, Snapologie, Festival de Ritmo et Noël.
Alongside her artistic activities, Caroline has been teaching jazz and popular singing for more than 25 years at University and College levels; she is currently a teacher at the Cégep regional de Lanaudière in Joliette.
A classically trained flautist, Caroline holds a master's degree in jazz singing and performance from Laval University under the direction of the great Ranee Lee, in addition to two bachelor's degrees; one in jazz singing from the University of Montreal and the other in music teaching from the University of Quebec in Montreal.
